GALAPAGOS: GROUND BREAKING RESULTS
https://www.animalbalance.org/
“ISABELA, GALÁPAGOS — “On Wed, Nov 26, 2025 inside a modest municipal chamber in Puerto Villamil, the local government of Isabela signed a landmark animal-welfare ordinance defined not by crisis, but by prevention. The measure, …formalizes a system that has already begun to reshape the relationship between people, companion animals, & the islands’ fragile ecology. The signing itself was straightforward, a mayor, a handful of municipal staff, & repre-sentatives from partner agencies, but its signi-ficance was anything but routine. After 2 decades of coordinated high-volume sterilization, micro-chipping, enforcement, & community education … the Galápagos has now taken a decisive step toward something no U.S. city or county has achieved in 150 years of organized animal control:Render the traditional animal shelter unnecessary. This model ... came from a small nonprofit that started w/coolers of vaccines, makeshift surgical clinics, & a simple premise: Stop the births, & you end the suffering.”

A “RE-LOOK” @ “BODEGA CATS IN NYC”
https://open.substack.com/pub/animalsmatter/p/bodega-cats-in-nyc?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email Through the eyes of a longtime activist who has viewed this issue for decades, who understands the importance of enforcement & has lived the challenges NYC politics presents. Not light or brief but a rare perspective and a valuable read!
