The Toby Project
On Spay Day USA, NYC announced the launching of The Toby Project. Named after a dog rescued by the Project’s founder, Dr. Andrew Kaplan, the Project seeks to provide free spay neuters to NYC’s neediest animals by sending spay neuter vans into the neighborhoods that supply or surrender the most animals to municipal shelters. The 1st neighborhood visited in 2009 was the Gunhill area of the Bronx. In 2008, about 70 animals were killed each day in NYC for lack of a home. Read more about this 501 C 3 at www.tobyproject.org

NASCAR superstar for S/N
(As reported 2-24-09 in the Nashuatelegraph.com)
Greg Biffle is so committed to the cause that he started his own foundation that gives grants to rescue & S/N programs. He admits to worrying about what would happen if he neutered his boxer, Foster. But contrary to his worries, he found that the changes were positive. "When I got him fixed, he wanted to play ball more. He was more attentive to us." Biffle also explains the pet health benefits: on average, fixed animals live longer. See www.gregbifflefoundation.com

Lucky Star SpokesCat is Famous!
We entered a baby photo of “Betsy” (now 5 ½) in the nationwide Spay Day USA HSUS photo contest on the web. All donations she prompted went to People for Animals, low cost spay neuter clinic in Hillside NJ.

that he's not going to be a man anymore.
He's still going to be an in-charge dog.”
