All Lucky Stars Renew for 2011
I am very happy to report that all Lucky Star veterinarians have renewed their pledges for 2011! The number of needy animals, abandoned & otherwise, has not diminished & the generosity of these veterinarians is a wonderful gift to their neediest patients. Thank You Lucky Stars!

Hollywood Steps UP for S/N
Film & TV star Katherine Heigle who has six dogs, including 3 rescues, announced in Sept that her foundation, which honors her late brother, will donate $1 million to a Los Angeles initiative aimed at spaying & neutering pets, educating the public and bringing an end to shelter pet euthanization there! Great News for LA! And Jane Lynch, aka "Sue Sylvester" on FOX's TV series "Glee," has teamed up with PETA to record a public service piece on importance of S/N.

I’ve got a tummy tattoo! do you?
Pets leaving the ASPCA’s Mobile S/N Clinics in NYC now sport a tiny green tattoo, showing that they have been “fixed”. (For female dogs & cats & male dogs it is next to the incision. For male cats, it is on the lower abdomen near where the spay incision would be on a female.) If you go to the bottom of the mobile clinic’s web page: www.aspca.org/aspca-nyc/mobileclinic/ under “How Should I Care for a Pet After Surgery?”, you will find comprehensive printable post op care info in English or Spanish. They go so far as to suggest the type of cat litter to use after surgery. The ASPCA in NYC offers free & low cost S/N in the 5 boroughs 7 days a week.
