Our Mission: To gather, recognize and celebrate the continuing annual commitment of each of our member veterinarians to provide some level of absolutely free spay neuter services to the needy animals of their choice, along with any other free services they choose to provide.

What a great partnership & example for others! This absolutely free 2019 S/N opportunity for outdoor feral/stray cats included trapping & transportation, S/N, Rabies & FVRCP Vaccines, Parasite Treatment & Ear tip for Ferals, & was fully funded by the “MD Dept of Agriculture S/N Grants Program” (Way to go Maryland!) designed to provide a humane solution to control the free roaming cat population & reduce shelter intake & euthanasia in Worcester & Wicomico Counties in MD. S/N BACKLOG-CAVALRY ON THE WAY ?
A coalition of national groups & funders have formed “#SpayTogether” to address backlog of S/N due to COVID-19. Goal initially reported was to provide visiting surgical teams in the 8 states w/the most need for HVHQ S/N (CA, TX, NV, LA, MS, OK, NC, FL) with help then to follow else-where.After a survey of needs, a later release (6-1-2020) mentioned providing $ & resources to help US shelters & clinics reach a goal of 50,000 S/N’s in 3 months. Latest word is #Spay Together is granting >$2.3 million to >200 shelters, clinics, rescues & other animal protection groups in all 50 States to provide: (1) Surgery subsidy support grants, (2) On-ground assistance training in HQHV S/N & (3) Discounted veterinary supplies & services to S/N >54,000 dogs & cats in a 3-mo. ICAM hosted global experts on dog & cat population management in the Covid-19 Era in a 1hr/45 min.webinar that can be viewed in pieces. Humbling to get this intro to efforts now on around the world to “keep safe whilst continuing our essential services to manage dogs & cats humanely & protect their welfare.”

PFA’s “WAIT UNTIL 8” INITIATIVE
To help deal w/effects of Covid-19 S/N pause, & help maintain TNVR results, PFA partners w/ residents & colony caretakers to find newborns & provide support & resources to keep kittens w/Mom inplace ‘til kittens R 8 wks old. For orphans PFA will provide caregivers with needed supplies.At 8weeks, PFA will S/N & help care-givers find them permanent placement. Says Michelle Brodbeck, Community Cat Program Manager “..one more way PFA takes a community problem & creates a community solution.”
