SPRING BRINGS BUNNIES TO MIND
https://humanepro.org/magazine/articles/bunny-days-ahead Excerpts below from article above :
“Just like w/ cats & dogs, S/N carries significant health benefits for rabbits, guarantees that they won’t be producing unwanted litters & allows the animals to put their best paw forward...Altered rabbits quickly learn to use the litter box (though they will continue to drop some fecal pellets as they hop to mark territory) ...Male rabbits reach sexual maturity at 10-12 weeks, females at 4 months. That's when hormones take over, & cute little bunnies can turn into little monsters, spraying urine & making aggressive overtures to people & other rabbits.....many “problem” rabbits shed their bad behaviors w/n weeks after surgery.” Get detailed guidelines for maintaining bunnies’ physical & emotional health House Rabbit Society’s website rabbit.org. & a FREE webinar at animalsheltering.org/all-about-bunnies.

UPDATE: AFGHANISTAN & UKRAINE
Amid the turmoil, efforts continue despite enormous challenges to bring relief to all. https://www.nowzad.com/news. Keeping to our S/N theme, here’s what this UK based 501(c)3 reported: “Afghanistan was not the easiest country to operate in before August 2021 & now it is even worse...But as we went to print w/this news letter our dedicated Kabul team on World Spay Day S/N’d 28 cats as well as vaccineating them all against rabies. We are just super proud of them. Animal welfare is their priority.” More @ https://www.nowzad.com/news/article/afghanistan-update-march-2023 Re: help for Ukraine, logistics & choices are both daunting & hearten-ing. Re:S/N, here’s Nowzad’s report: “Our team in Ukraine is not only delivering vital animal supplies but also supporting localised Trap Neuter Vaccinate and Release programs (still operating even under conflict conditions) to humanely reduce the stray dog population where a recent outreach programme managed to treat over 2000 dogs.” (All spelling above as in the UK!)
